War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Palestine Proceeded from Egypt to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli. Joined Infantry Base Depot, Salonika, Greece, 20 December 1915. Disembarked Alexandria from Mudros, 29 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Transferred to Camel Corps, 1 February 1916. Appointed Temporary Lance Corporal, 24 February 1916. Found guilty, 3 April 1916, of being absent without leave from 10 pm, 1 April, to 6 am, 3 April 1916: deprived of Lance Corporal stripe, and forfeited 3 days' pay. Taken on strength, No 4 Company, Imperial Camel Corps, 11 November 1916. Appointed Sergeant, 18 December 1916.
