Military Medal 'On 29th September, 1918 during operations South of BONY, when all Non Commissioned Officers of his Platoon had become casualties he acted as Platoon Sergeant and throughout the operation rendered great assistance to his Platoon Commander. He established a strong post on the left flank of the Battalion under extremely dangerous conditions and went forward and selected a site for a Lewis Gun where effective fire could be directed on the enemy, he then took a Lewis gun to this place and succeeded in establishing the post.'
