Medals |
Military Medal 'Is recommended for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near LIHONS on 17th August 1918. This N.C.O., was in command of Ration carrying parties from Battalion headquarters to the front line and during his carries he was caught in two very heavy enemy barrages. Some of the ration party were wounded, and this N.C.O., got them into safety and then continued to the front line with his load. He then returned to the place in which the wounded men were left, and again went through the barrage to the front line with the rations that the wounded men had been carrying. The coolness of this N.C.O., is worthy of the highest recognition, and he showed no regard for personal safety.'
