Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. After the objective had been captured, strong opposition was encountered from an enemy position just ahead of the objective. In company with his officer he rushed the strong point, put the machine gun crew out of action, cleared the position, and captured 30 prisoners. His prompt and fearless action saved many casualties.'
