Military Medal 'On the 1st September, 1918 during operations North of PERONNE, when the Company had reached its final objective this Non Commissioned Officer established a Lewis Gun crew in a forward position and so placed the gun that he was able to keep down enemy fire and protect the Company whilst consolidating. Later on he worked up a communication trench in face of heavy enemy fire and succeeded in clearing the trench and capturing many prisoners.'
