'These three sappers [PETRASS, 2036 H. QUINN, 3436 R. NOBLE] distinguished themselves at MOUQUET FARM on the 26th August, 1916, in preparing communication between the Quarry and Point 77. The more important part of this work had to be dug in day light under heavy fire in perfectly open ground. In spite of their casualties good progress was made by the party, the abovementioned sappers being conspicuous by their gallant efforts to push the work forward, in spite of heavy fire.'
