Medals |
Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the first part of the advance through a dense fog he rendered great assistance in maintaining direct liaison with adjoining units. When one of the platoon commanders became a casualty he took command and led it in the assault, capturing a machine gun post which threatened to hold up the advance. A number of the enemy were killed, ten men, and two machine guns captured. He then bombed his way to the final objective and later beat off a counter attack. His leadership throughout the operation was excellent.'
