'On 24th April, 1918, at BONNAY he drove his ambulance car frequently through the village during a very heavy bombardment. After the Advanced Dressing Station had been moved, on hearing that the old site had been directly hit and an Officer and some orderlies wounded, he took his car again into the village and brought the wounded out under very heavy fire. His courage and devotion to duty greatly assisted in the successful evacuation of many wounded under the most trying circumstances. His car was struck in a number of places by fragments of shell.'
