Military Medal 'This N.C.O. has displayed exceptional initiative and bravery during the operations of the past six months. His determination and endurance have helped materially towards the success of these operations. During the operations at ALLAINES, East of AMIENS, on September 2nd 1918, after all his company officers had become casualties, he took charge of his company and remained in charge until the Battalion was relieved three days later. During this battle he did excellent work in rallying the remnants of his company and pushing forward to the final objective. His determination and disregard for personal safety was a wonderful example to his tired men at a very critical period.'
