Military Medal 'During operations east of PROYART from 23rd/26th August, 1918, Private PING as a runner displayed great courage and devotion to duty. Under very heavy Machine GUn fire he made several trips to company headquarters from the front line. During the advance Lieutenant GILL was severely wounded, Private PING saw him fall and under a very heavy enemy artillery barrage carried him to a place of safety. Shortly afterwards, Sergeant EATT was badly wounded and Private PING again dashed forward and under heavy artillery and Machine GUn fire carried Sergeant WATT to a place of safety. This gallant act infused courage and determination into the remainder of his platoon who sitnessed the deed.'
