Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and careful handling of his men whilst carrying ammunition to the front line, during an intense enemy bombardment of 20th instant at WESTHOEK. This N.C.O.'s tact and personal example at a critical period allowed him to get his party through a heavy barrage with few casualties and forming a much needed dump of ammunition in the front line.'
