Military Medal

'At HERLEVILLE, East of AMIENS, during operations on the 18th August, 1918, this man showed great dash and determination. He led a small party along a trench system and met stubborn resistance from a series of posts. In spite of this he bombed out the enemy, killed 6 Germans and made good a gap which was endangering the position of the Company. His example was of great value.'
