'During the period 23/28th October, 1917 near ZONNEBEKE, East of YPRES, Private POLLOCK was on a very important and exposed Lewis Gun post which was continually being blown in. On one occasion all the rest of the gun crew were casualties, and though slightly wounded and suffering from gas, Private POLLOCK remained at his post, repaired his gun, and continued firing until the Bn. was relieved.'
