Military Medal 'At BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES during the operations between1st and 8th October, 1917, Pte. POPE displayed great gallantry and marked devotion to duty. He proved of invaluable assistance in keeping up forward communication from Battalion Headquarters and though subjected to intense barrage he at all times acted with the utmost coolness and courage. By his prompt unhesitating action information of the utmost urgency was conveyed to Battalion Headquarters at times when the enemy's fire was most intense.'
