'At POZIERES on the morning of the 5th August, 1916 after working all night, hearing that number of wounded men were lying in No Man's Land, unattended these men [ 8529 A.A. PORTER, 8731 O.C. JONSEN] volunteered to go forward, and proceeding through a heavy barrage continued to dress the wounded through heavy shell fire until their supply of dressings was exhausted. They then carried in wounded under heavy fire.'
