Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He handled his platoon with great dash and initiative. When his men were held up by a heavy bombing attack, he reorganized his platoon, and with great dash drove the enemy back killing and capturing many prisoners. He also took 200 yards of trench, where he established a strong post, which he held.'
