Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and good leadership in an attack. He led his company with great skill, capturing 150 prisoners and a battery of 5.9 guns. Later, after making a daring reconnaissance, he advanced his line 2,000 yards, and consolidated his position under heavy fire. He set a splendid example of coolness and determination to his company.'
