Taken on strength, 59th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 28 February 1916.

Transferred to 60th Bn, 15 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916.

Reported Missing, 19 July 1916.

Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 4 August 1917, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 19 July 1916'.

Note, Red Cross File No 1780107: 'No trace Germany[.] Cert. by Capt. Mills 10.10.19.'

Statement, 2719 Pte J. CLANCY, B Company, 60th Bn, 28 February 1917: 'Pte. T.E. Smith , B. VII, and Pte. F. Peacock, B. VII, both told me they saw his dead body lying out during the charge at Fleurbaix on 19th. July. They told me this the night of the charge.'

Second statement, 2950 Pte A. MORGAN, 60th Bn, 20 July 1917: 'Whilst I lay wounded on the 19th July at Fleurbaix, I noticed lying near me about three yards away, the above named Casualty. I crawled over to ask him for a drink, but when I touched him I found he was dead. I took away his water bottle.'

Third statement, 3928 Pte SMITH, 60th Bn [3928 T.E. SMITH, 59th Bn?], 10 May 1919: 'Killed at Fleurbaix. Company were going over the top at the time. Power was killed by a machine gun bullet through the head - killed outright. He was left in No Man's Land.'
