Military Medal 'On 4th October, 1917, East of YPRES, for conspicuous gallantry in action. After locating an enemy Machine Gun which was holding up the left flank, he, single handed, rushed the position from a flank and bombed and killed the crew of two men and captured the gun. His promptness and courage not only saved many casualties, but enabled the advance to continue.'
