Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was detailed to take the battery into the line to relieve another brigade. He arrived in time to join in the bombing operations, and with sheer disregard for danger and great promptness did much to break down the enemy resistance. Throughout he showed great courage, and was a splendid example to his men.'
