Military Medal 'On the 7th June, 1917, during operations south of MESSINES. This man was wounded during the assault on the enemy's front line, but refused to return to have his wounds dressed. He carried important messages to our advanced line under an intense hostile barrage. He was again wounded and although weak from exhaustion and loss of blood insisted on delivering his message before having his wounds dressed. He displayed the highest quality of courage and devotion to duty throughout.'
