War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Wounded in action, Gallipoli, 20 July 1915 (shell wound, back). Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Abbassia, Egypt, 12 April 1916; discharged to duty, 15 July 1916; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 95 days. Tried by Field General Court Martial, 19 July 1917; found Guilty of Absent without Leave, 2-5 July 1917; awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No 2. Wounded in action, Belgium, 4 November 1917 (gun shot wound, arm). Commenced return to Australia on noard HT 'Kashmir', 9 March 1919; discharged (medically unfit), Brisbane, 7 October 1919.
