Re-enlisted, 15 May 1915 (indicating willingness to be vaccinated and inoculated). Embarked for overseas, 11 November 1915; disembarked Suez, 8 December 1915.

Embarked at Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 4 April 1916. Admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Marseilles, 28 April 1916; discharged to duty, 26 May 1916. Admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital (neurotic heart), 3 December 1916; discharged to duty, 6 December 1916.
