Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and continued devotion to duty for period September to November, 1918. This N.C.O. has carried out his duties with a total disregard for personal danger. particularly during the advance near WIANCOURT on 7th October, 1918, just at zero hour as the barrage opened the Battery was heavily bombed by hostile aircraft, one gun being blown out and crew killed or wounded. No sooner had the fatal bomb landed when Corporal QUINN rushed to the pit to give assistance notwithstanding the bombs that were falling all around. he showed absolute disregard for his personal safety. He recovered from the smouldering debris the bodies of the gunners that had been killed and carried the wounded away to the Dressing Station. By his utter disregard and contempt for shell fire he has set a fine example to this men at all times.'
