Wounded in action, 22 September 1917 (shrapnel wound, back and left leg); admitted to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 25 September 1917; transferred to England, 1 October 1917, and admitted to Western Auxiliary Military Hospital; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, 26 November 1917; discharged on furlough, 30 November 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 14 December 1917.

Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 21 December 1917.

Transferred to Machine Gun Details, Grantham, 9 January 1918.
