Military Medal

'Recommended for consistent good work in handling his Lewis Machine Gun Section during operations north west of POZIERES from 5th to 11th August, 1916. He was of invaluable assistance to Sergeant MURDOCK who was in command of 15th Battalion Lewis Machine Gun Sections in selection of gun positions, organising gun teams, supply of ammunition and rations. He came under special notice during operations against enemy positions on 8th/9th August, 1916, and 9th/10th August, 1916, for the cool and courageous way he handled his guns.'
