Statement, 3226 Pte A.L. PLUMMER, 16th Machine Gun Company (patient, 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, England), 16 April 1917: 'I found him at Laventy in No Man's Land during a heavy fog - I took his disc which I saw and it with his papers were given to the Coy Clerk of the 57th or 58th Batt. We buried him there. I knew him personally but he was unrecognisable from obvious reasons having been out several days.'
