Military Medal 'During a minor operation near SAILY LE SEC near ALBERT on the night 14th/15th April, 1918, this N.C.O. was in charge of one of the parties operating. He displayed great gallantry on approaching the post and led his party onto the flank of the enemy thus completing the surprise and surrounding the post. He personally killed one of the enemy and then took up a position to protect the other parties operating. His conduct throughout was a fine example of leadership and an excellent example to the men under his care. This operation was carried out under enemy machine gun fire and within 100 yards of the enemy main position. His action was fearless and bravely conducted.'
