War Service: Disembarked Devonport 29 January 1917, marched in to training battalion 30 January 1917. Proceeded overseas to France 9 October 1917. Wounded in action, 28 October 1917, France. Sent to Queen Mary's Military Hospital, Whalley, England , (gun shot wound to right thigh). On 3 April 1918 he was charged with overstaying his leave from midnight 2 April till reporting to Military Police at 7am 5 April. Forfeited 4 days pay. On 17th April, Private Ramsay was marched in to base depot, France. He was again wounded in action (Gun shot wound, right arm) on 16 May 1918 in France. He rejoined his unit on 25 May 1918, but was returned to hospital on 27 July 1918, suffering from trench fever. He rejoined his unit 27 August 1918.
