Rejoined 21st Bn, Anzac, from hospital, 29 September 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria from Mudros, 7 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 26 March 1916.

Wounded in action, 26 August 1916; now, 9 September 1916, reported missing.

Now, 2 November 1916, reported captured, prisoner of war, Darmstadt, Germany.

He wrote, 5 October 1916: 'I am in Hospital in Germany with a bad leg wound. They have taken my leg off, but don't tell Louie when you write. Now I want ou to do me a favour as I have no relations in England. Can you have some parcels sent to me. I will arrange for Louie to send you money. Try and send me some butter, milk, treacle and cigarettes and if you could send me about 10/- I will [indecipherable] you.'

Died of sepsis following wounds, 25 October 1916.
