Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the period under review he was a member of a fatigue party attached to a field company, and was employed daily in the forward area, often under heavy hostile shelling. His behaviour on all occasions has been especially admirable, and he has exerted a marked influence with the remainder of the party, preventing any confusion in trying circumstances.'
