Military Medal 'On the night of 28th/29th September 1917, this man maintained the telephone lines through GLENCORSE WOOD and BLACK KWATCH CORNER to the right Battalion Headquarters in POLYGON WOOD. He repeatedly went out with his Sergeant and repaired faults in the line, and it was largely owing to his untiring energy and devotion to duty that telephonic communication was maintained. On many occasions he has distinguished himself by his gallant conduct.'
