On leave to England, 20 September 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, Belgium, 8 October 1917.

On leave to Paris, 4 January 1918; rejoined Bn from leave, 12 January 1918.

Admitted to 7th Australian Field Ambulance, 3 March 1918 (orchitis), and transferred to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, and then to New Zealand Stationary Hospital; to Ambulance Train No 19, 6 March 1918, and admitted to 7th Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 7 March 1918 (orchitis, non-venereal); to 5th Reception Camp, 11 April 1918; to Base Depot, Havre, 21 April 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 5 May 1918.

Found guilty, 19 August 1918, of when on Active Service being absent without leave from 8 am, 2 August, until surrendering himself at St Martin's Camp, noon, 18 August 1918: awarded 28 days' forfeiture of pay; total forfeiture: 37 days' pay.

Admitted to 7th Australian Field Ambulance, 19 August 1918 (gonorrhoea), and transferred to 12th Casualty Clearing Station; to No 1 Stationary Hospital, 21 August 1918; to 39th General Hospital, Havre, 25 May 1918; discharged to unit, 8 November 1918; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 82 days.

Detached to 7th Brigade Headquarters, 22 December 1918; rejoined Bn, 12 January 1919.

Marched out to England, 20 January 1919, for return to Australia; marched in to No 4 Command Depot, 21 January 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Port Macquarie', 28 March 1919; admitted to ship's hospital, at sea, 5 May 1919 (scabies); discharged to duty, 10 May 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 21 May 1919; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), Adelaide, 21 July 1919.
