Found guilty, 2 November 1916, of being absent without leave from midnight, 20 October, to 9.30 pm, 30 October 1916: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeiture of 14 days' pay. Proceeded overseas to France, 21 November 1916. Wounded in action, remaining on duty, 22 December 1916. Admitted to Shorncliffe Military Hospital, England, 9 June 1917 (gun shot wound, left foot) (no further details recorded). Found guilty, 10 July 1917, of being absent without leave from 9.30 pm, 8 July, till 9 am. 10 July 1917: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2, and total forfeiture of 9 days' pay.
