Proceeded overseas to France, 22 November 1916.

Wounded in action, 28 January 1917 (gun shot wound, right arm, left buttock); admitted to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, 31 January 1917 (gun shot wound, left thigh, right shoulder); transferred to England, 1 February 1917, and admitted to Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, 4 February 1917 (wounds severe); transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 11 April 1917; discharged on furlough, 16 April 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 30 April 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 September 1917; rejoined 37th Bn, in the field, 6 October 1917.

Reported missing, 12 October 1917.

Now, 11 February 1918, posted as 'killed in action, Belgium, 12 October 1917'.
