Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack on enemy position in the vicinity of MORLANCOURT near ALBERT on the night of 5th/6th May, 1918. When the second objective had been captured he established a post in front of the line. An enemy strong point to his front was causing trouble. He organised a party of four men, rushed the post and captured a machine gun and two prisoners. Throughout the attack he displayed an absolute disregard for danger, and greatly inspired his men by his example.'
