Medals |
Military Medal 'On the evening of the 12th May, a gun pit was hit by a shell which set the camouflage and ammunition on fire. Sergeant REID, at great personal risk, succeeded in extinguishing the fire, saving a considerable amount of ammunition and probable damage to the gun. On the night of 14/15th May when the vicinity iof the battery was being heavily shelled with gas shells, Sergeant REID did excellent work, under trying circumstances, digging two men out from gun pits in which they had been buried by gas shells. All the time the enemy continued to shell the position with gas, and all ranks had to wear respirators. The general services of this N.C.O. have always been most commendable.'
