Military Medal 'On the 13th May 1917 Private Reid was on post as a bomber on the Right of the sector in the Hindenburg Line near BULLECOURT. This was considered to be the most dangerous part of the line as the enemy were in the same trench, with only a sunken road between. The enemy commenced shelling this part of the trench severely, inflicting heavy casualties. After the Commander of the Post and all his men had been wounded Private Reid remained on post until he himself was wounded. On May 12th 1917 Private Reid saw some Germans enter a dug-out some distance from our line. He proceeded to the dug-out and threw Mills Grenades down the entrance. It was seen that a number of wounded were carried out. Private Reid has always volunteered for all patrols and has shown great coolness and courage when in the line.'
