Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry at SAILLEY LAURETTE, on 25th July, 1918, during an enemy raid on our posts. Private REILLY was in charge of a lewis gun Section. He fired a magazine at a party of 20 Germans who were attempting to attack his post from the rea, and forced them to take cover in a sunken road. After killing a German with his revolver he threw twelve bombs and caused the enemy to retire in disorder, leaving three dead and one wounded. By his remarkable coolness and courage this man was largely responsible for the successful repulse of the enemy.'
