Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. With his subsection he helped to repel two counter attacks, and showed great coolness under a heavy bombardment. He kept his gun in action though all his men except one were casualties, and set a splendid example of courage and determination.'
