'13th/16th August, 1916. Front line trenches A.G.1.2. east of POZIERES Battalion Runners. When lines were cut to front line and Brigade Headquarters communication was kept open by runners who took urgent messages under heavy fire at all times day and night. Of the runners the two mentioned here were conspicuous for their bravery and attention to duty.'
