Wounded in action (bomb wound, left arm), 7 August 1915. Admitted to No. 1 General Hospital, Helipolis, Egypt, 10 August 1915; transferred to Australian and New Zealand Convalescent Hospital, Helouan, 11 September 1915; discharged to light duty, 25 September 1915.

Proceeded to join the Western Field Force, Egypt, 14 January 1916.

Admitted to hospital, El Arish, 19 January 1917 (boil, arm). Remustered as Driver, Imperial Mounted Division, 9 March 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Malta', 3 July 1919; disembarked Sydney, 10 August 1919; discharged, 10 October 1919.
