Military Medal 'This man is a stretcher-bearer, and is brought to notice for his exceptionally gallant conduct during the enemy attack on our lines near HEBUTERNE on the 5th April 1918. With a complete disregard for his own safety, and under intense artillery fire, he ministered to the care and comfort of the wounded men. He subsequently assisted with the evacuation of the wounded, and to reach the Regimental Aid Post he had to pass through three distinct enemy barrages. His cheerfulness and gallant conduct on this occasion were an inspiration to all with whom he came in contact. he is recommended for distinction.'
