'Action at MOUQUET FARM. On 3rd September, 1916, he attended wounded under very heavy fire and in the open. He displayed admirable courage, never for a moment considering himself or his own personal safety. Again on the 4th September, 1916, it was necessary for the A.M.C. to work in the open where wounded men were passing. Men were continually hit where Private RICHARDS was working but he never for a moment desisted from his work.'
