Military Medal 'At PERONNE during operations on the 1st/2nd September 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Perceiving that a footbridge across the moat was commanded by a Machine Gun he rushed across 50 yards of fire swept ground with his Lewis gun, engaged the enemy and compelled him to withdraw.'
