Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This officer was in charge of a platoon of the support company during an attack by the enemy. He led his platoon against a strong party, capturing forty five prisoners and two machine guns. He then retook the part of our trenches which the enemy had penetrated. These two successful counter attacks were the outcome of his initiative and determination.'
