Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When the R.A.P. was heavily shelled, a direct hit causing casualties amongst the staff, he succeeded, single handed, in getting the wounded away, and attended to many cases in the area of the bombardment. Throughout the period his courage and determination saved many lives.'
