Medal: British War Medal In 1922, Riley applied for the Victory Medal. Base Records replied to Headquarters, 5th Military District, 13 September 1922: '[RILEY] was appointed to duty for a definite period - three weeks in England and France and two weeks in Egypt - for the purpose of enquiring into the administration of the Chaplains Department. This can only be regarded as temporary visits of inspection, and according to the War Office ruling do not qualify for the award of the Victory Medal.
