Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty. On the morning of 1st September 1918, Driver RING was accompanying 54th Battalion in the attack on PERONNE. A Lewis Gun team, having all become casualties, volunteers were urgently called for. Driver RING promptly manned the gun, engaged and silenced an enemy machine-gun, which was giving considerable trouble from the flank, and holding up the advance. His courage on this occasion, as on many others, was of the highest order.'
