'For gallantry and devotion to duty at Amman on 22 October, 1918. Whilst the squadron was moving down the defile leading into the town, a machine gun opened fire, causing several casualties. Without hesitation, Corporal Ringrose wheeled his section and galloped them straight at the gun, causing the crew to surrender. His courage and initiative was a fine example to all.'
